VEHICLE: 2014 Peugeot 4008 1,8 HDi
ISSUE: Lack of engine power and whistling noise from engine bay
DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION: We have a customer with a 2014 Peugeot 4008 1,8 HDi who is complaining that they have a lack of engine power and a whistling noise from the engine bay. We have carried out some basic checks on the air and fuel systems and checked for any stored trouble codes; none were present. Have you any ideas where to start to fix this car?
Yes, we are aware of a whistling noise issue on 4008 models with 1,8 Diesel engine. The fault is likely to be due to the rubber seal between the intake air pipe and the turbocharger (TC) being drawn in to the turbocharger (TC) causing damage to the TC air intake impeller (fig. 1.1.). Inspect the turbocharger (TC) for damage, replace if necessary. Renew the rubber seal for the air intake pipe. Fit new intake air pipe (fig. 1.2.). Carry out road test to confirm the faults have been eliminated.
