Autodocta – 2016 Kia Sportage

VEHICLE: 2016 Kia Sportage

ISSUE: Engine misfiring with trouble codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 stored

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
A customer is complaining that their 2016 Kia Sportage 1,6 T-GDi has an engine misfire. The vehicle’s engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated and several misfire related trouble codes have been stored in the engine control module (ECM) fault memory. We have carried out some basic wiring checks and replaced the spark plugs but the fault is still there. Have you come across misfire faults on this model before?

Yes, we have seen multiple misfire trouble codes (P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304) affecting Sportage models with G4FJ engine code and manual transmission up to 03/18. The engine misfire is due to an unsatisfactory design of the dual mass flywheel. Inspect the production date code on the dual mass flywheel . If the production date code is before MLE, fit a new dual mass flywheel. Erase trouble codes. Carry out road test to ensure fault has been rectified.
