Nearly two years ago Autodata announced the introduction of an all-new product feature to enable accurate maintenance and repair of complex diesel car exhaust systems. Today the number of cars represented in this area has more than doubled.
The fitment of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), which reduce diesel soot emissions soon became commonplace after the introduction of ‘Euro 5’ standards in 2009.
Autodata introduced the ‘Diesel Exhaust Gas After-treatment’ feature to explain maintenance procedures and allow quick diagnosis of DPF and Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) problems. Covering 23 manufacturers and 105 models at launch, the feature provided comprehensive coverage. However, today, just two years later, the continued growth in this area has seen Autodata now provide coverage for 37 manufacturers and 232 models – a growth in models by 121%.
What’s incredible is the growth in engine variants, growing from 528 variants two years ago, to 1,542 today – a coverage growth of 192%.
Town-based, stop/start driving significantly increases the need for maintenance of DPF and SCR equipped cars, so urban-based workshops have seen lots of vehicles with ‘regeneration’ (emptying of the filter) issues.
