VEHICLE: 2014 Citroën C4 Cactus
ISSUE: Loss of engine power and engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated
DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
We are having difficulty diagnosing a loss of engine power on a 2014 Citroen C4 Cactus. The engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated with trouble code P0172 stored in the engine control module (ECM) fault memory. We have swapped the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) from a similar car but it is still the same. Can you help?
Yes, Citroen C4 Cactus 1,2 models with HMZ (EB2) engine code up to 02/11/14 (RPO 13873) suffer with the fault you have described. The cause is due to an incorrect specification manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor fitted. Inspect production date code on MAP sensor (fig. 1.1.). If production date code is before 140609, fit new MAP sensor. Erase trouble code. Carry out road test to ensure fault has been rectified.
