A 2016 Kia Sportage we have in for service has a door open warning message displayed in the instrument panel even though all doors are closed. Have you any ideas?
Yes, we have recently seen this fault on this model and it is due to water ingress into the rear door lock mechanism wiring harness multi-plug causing corrosion. Remove the rear door inner panel. Check the rear door lock mechanism wiring harness multi-plug for corrosion. If necessary, replace the rear door lock mechanism. Using a repair kit, available from the Kia parts department, fit a water drain channel to the door window glass rear guide rail. This modification will prevent the problem re-occurring. Repeat the procedure for the opposite side.
