Crawford Automotive, Wynnum

“It’s hard work – especially these days because the technology is advancing so quickly. That’s where Autodata really helps, because you can get information at your fingertips.”

Crawford Automotive is an automotive repair centre which has carried out services ranging from bulb changes to engine rebuilds in Wynnum, Queensland for just under 20 years. Their workshop sees a variety of vehicles from the European, Japanese, and Korean car parcs.  The company operates both consumer and fleet servicing and also provides specialised assistance and support for 4×4’s, tyres, brakes and suspensions.

“It’s hard work – especially these days because the technology is advancing so quickly. That’s where Autodata really helps, because you can get information at your fingertips,” explains owner, Damon Crawford.

On a day-to-day basis, Crawford mechanics use Autodata to access service schedules and find out what servicing is required. They also use it for problem-solving – accessing Autodata’s database of thousands of fault codes to find likely causes and known fixes.

Damon stresses the advantage of using Autodata’s OE manufacturer-verified data when putting together a quote for a service: “Autodata gives you a lot more confidence when you’re quoting because you know your times are going to be pretty right”. Using an OEM-verified source minimises the risk of overquoting – which means your workshop could miss out on the job – or underquoting, which means missing out on possible profit.

Autodata offers access to its online workshop application on a subscription basis. Damon explains why this model works best for Crawford Automotive: “Your old option was to buy books; timing belt books, fault code books etc. I would have spent thousands each year on updating books. Whereas with the annual fee for Autodata you’ve got it all, with the added advantage of having a helpdesk. So, the small amount you invest a year to Autodata certainly more than pays for itself!”

Damon concludes: “I couldn’t run the workshop without it. After having it, you won’t know how you managed without it.”
