VEHICLE: 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 1,5 CDI
ISSUE: Excessive vibration through vehicle when stationary with engine idling
DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
We have a 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 1,5 CDI in the workshop. There is excessive vibration through the vehicle when stationary with the engine idling and a noise/vibration from the transmission when the clutch pedal is depressed at 1000-1500 rpm. Have you heard of this problem before?
Yes, we are aware of a fault which affects A-Class and B-Class models with 1,5 Diesel engine and 711.6 transmission code. From the symptoms you have described the fault is likely to be due to failure of the flywheel spigot bearing. Remove the transmission assembly. Inspect the flywheel spigot bearing for wear, damage or failure (fig. 1.1.). If the flywheel spigot bearing has failed, a new dual mass flywheel will have to be fitted. Carry out road test to ensure noise/vibration have been rectified.
