Autodocta – Citroën DS4

VEHICLE: 2013 Citroën DS4

ISSUE: Poor engine performance and engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
We have a 2013 Citroën DS4 1,6 petrol in our workshop with running issues. The vehicle is suffering with a lack of power, engine pinking and has the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated. Various trouble codes related to misfires are stored in the engine control module (ECM) fault memory. We have carried out some basic checks on the air and fuel systems but have not found the cause of the faults. Do you have any ideas?

Yes, we have been made aware of the faults you describe on DS4 models with 5FU (EP6CDTX) engine code. The cause is due to a faulty knock sensor (KS). Remove and discard the knock sensor (KS) retaining bolt and the knock sensor (KS). Fit a new knock sensor (KS). Ensure the knock sensor (KS) multi-plug connection is aligned with the bolt hole in the cylinder block. Apply thread locking compound to the new knock sensor (KS) retaining bolt before fitting. Ensure knock sensor (KS) retaining bolt is tightened to the correct torque setting.
