Autodocta – Alfa Romeo Giulia

VEHICLE: 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia

ISSUE: Engine coolant leak from intake manifold area

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
We have a 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia 2,0 in for service and we have noticed that the engine coolant level is very low. We can see traces of engine coolant below the intake manifold, but we can’t find the source of the leak. Is this something you are aware of?

We have been made aware of a engine coolant leak on Giulia 2,0 petrol engines, 12/09/16-12/01/17. The engine coolant leak is due to an unsatisfactory design of the turbocharger (TC) coolant pipe O-ring seal. Pressure test the cooling system and check for engine coolant in area indicated (fig.1.1.). Fit a modified O-ring seal, available from Alfa Romeo parts department, to each of the turbocharger (TC) coolant pipes. Ensure engine coolant level and anti-freeze content are correct. Pressure test the cooling system again to confirm the leak has been fixed.
