Torsion Bar – New Autodata training module alert

The Torsion bar suspension was first patented by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931.

From there, this type of suspension has been used in mass produced vehicles, high performance vehicles and is now more commonly found on commercial vehicles.

Compared to other suspension systems, torsion bars are simpler and lighter while still providing a comfortable ride, adequate traction and body roll reduction.

In the latest addition to our training course on Understanding Suspension Systems, you will gain a basic understanding of the components of Torsion Bar Suspension as well as how this suspension system operates.

The topics covered in this training module include:

  • Basic suspension system dynamics
  • Torsion bar components
  • Torsion bar suspension operation
  • Advantages and disadvantages of torsion bar suspension

This module will be the latest addition to our growing library of over 350 technical training videos, covering the following key areas:

Electrical   |   Engine   |   Chassis   |   Drivetrain   |   Driver Assist

HVAC   |   Diagnostics   |   Servicing   |   Hybrid & Electric Vehicles

The simplicity and reliability of this suspension system means you may see it being used more and more in new vehicle designs coming onto the market.
