Solera Autodata announced its sponsorship of upcoming British rally driving star, Louise Cook, in Friday’s WRC3 Rally de España taking place in Catalunya, Spain. The four-day rally sees Louise holding seventh position in the championship after a particularly gruelling season. Despite a number of challenges including tyre and brake problems in recent races, Louise is up to seventh out of the 24 drivers, with 44 points gained so far and only two races to go. This leaves her well-placed to challenge for the overall WRC3 2018 championship which reaches its climax between 15-18th November in Australia.
Rod Williams, Managing Director of Autodata, said, “We’ve been following Louise throughout her campaign and are delighted to add our support. We may be experts in technical data and know the Ford Fiesta you see on the road inside out, but this is our first experience of racing. We are all wishing Louise the very best of luck going into the next stage in Spain.”
Louise Cook is a British rally driver, who in 2012 became the first woman to win a non-gender-based FIA World Rally Championship title by securing the FIA Production Car Cup for Drivers of 2WD. Cook also won the British Rally Championship Ladies title in 2011.
Louise Cook said: “It’s great to be working with Solera Autodata; they have a massive amount of technical knowledge within the company which I am sure will be very useful with running the rally team. It’s an exciting partnership and I am looking forward to it!”
The FIA World Rally Championship-3 or WRC3 is a companion rally series to the World Rally Championship and is driven on the same stages. WRC3 is limited to production-based cars homologated under the FIA R1, R2 and R3 rules.
