Autodocta – 2011 Citroën C4 Grand Picasso

VEHICLE: 2011 Citroën C4 Grand Picasso

ISSUE: Lack of engine power

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
A service customer of ours is experiencing an issue with their 2011 Citroën C4 Grand Picasso 2,0 Diesel. The vehicle has a lack of engine power and the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated. There are various trouble codes stored in the engine control module (ECM) fault memory. The trouble codes relate to the turbocharger system and we are reluctant to replace the turbocharger as it is an expensive part. Can you help?

Yes, we suspect the issue you are experiencing is most likely due to the turbocharger (TC) failing internally. To verify whether the turbocharger (TC) is at fault, apply a vacuum to the turbocharger (TC) vane position actuator of 0,7 bar. Check the movement of the TC vane position actuator rod for smooth action . If the actuator rod does not move and the vacuum remains constant then the turbocharger (TC) is faulty. Fit a new turbocharger (TC). Carry out road test to confirm the fault has been rectified.
