Focus most serviced vehicle in UK workshops

Autodata has published a list of the most common vehicles taken into independent garages during 2015, with the Ford Focus coming out on top.

The compact car started production in 1998 and there currently exists over 1.46 million on UK roads. Other models to feature in the ‘Top 5’ include the Volkswagen Golf, BMW 3 Series, Renault Clio and Peugeot 206, which ceased production across Europe in 2010.

Other notable inclusions in the ‘Top 20’ are the Nissan Qashqai – which was the first Nissan since the Sunny to make the UK’s top 10 fastest selling car list in 2010 – and the Volkswagen Touran, which was the first production vehicle in the VW Group to be released with Park Assist technology.

The country’s leading technical information supplier compiled the list based on the number of service schedules accessed by its UK subscribers, with over 67% of independent workshops having used Autodata’s latest online platform in the past 12-months.

Autodata Chief Executive Rod Williams said: “One of the many benefits of being on our new system is that provides us with significantly increased levels of product intelligence compared to previous versions of Autodata. This allows us to see where demand exists for content and react accordingly.

“In addition to ensuring we have the most comprehensive and up-to-date information for leading models, we have also expanded into new areas such as hybrid, electric and other alternatively fuelled vehicles, where we have seen a growing demand from our customer base in the past couple of years.”

Autodata’s Diagnostic & Repair subscription currently covers 29,000 models across 80 vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
