VEHICLE: 2015 Vauxhall Insignia

ISSUE: Engine oil leak from front of engine

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:

A 2015 Vauxhall Insignia 2,0 CDTi we look after is leaking engine oil from the front of the engine. The engine oil is leaking onto one of the driveshafts which is spreading the engine oil making the cause of the leak difficult to find. Can you help?

Yes, we are aware of an engine oil leak on this model. It is due to an incorrect tightening torque of the engine oil pump blanking plug, allowing oil leakage. Remove and discard the engine oil pump blanking plug. Fit new engine oil pump blanking plug and tighten finger tight (fig. 1.1.). Tighten the engine oil pump blanking plug to 15 Nm. Once specified tightening torque is achieved, check fitment of the engine oil pump blanking plug. Engine oil pump blanking plug is correctly fitted when top of the engine oil pump blanking plug either protrudes slightly or is flush with the upper surface of the engine oil pump housing.
